This startup draft series continues as teams build their important core rosters. Read up on the format of the league (dynasty best ball), scoring, and opening rounds of draft commentary and analysis here:
Now, the depth of each team’s roster is front-and-center in Rounds 7-10.
7.01 Eric Ebron (Had eyes on him in Round 7 if he slipped)
7.02 Arian Foster
7.03 Latavius Murray
7.04 Tevin Coleman (No pre-draft injury discount here)
7.05 Julius Thomas (One of the big ‘fallers’ based on ADP)
With no clear target player, I harken back to my study of startup drafts and what makes a successful team a year or two later in an existing league. Once into this range, hitting big on a handful of players – or even one or two – is the name of the game. With that in mind, I go with the ultimate home run swing that was a Round 2 player seven months ago…Cordarrelle Patterson. Can he play wide receiver? Who knows, but I know he has the athleticism to be a true difference-maker in the NFL. Plus, a few games of long touchdowns is a worthy contribution from this range in best ball scoring. At 78 overall, I am good with drafting a complete bust when the game-breaking upside has already been seen at the NFL level.
7.07 Marshawn Lynch
7.08 Charles Johnson
7.09 Julian Edelman
7.10 Matthew Stafford
7.11 Alfred Morris (Yuck in full PPR and best ball)
7.12 Kenny Stills (Better in best ball than traditional)
