This well-established league was one I joined as an orphan a few years ago, promptly winning a title with the older-than-typical roster with a running back focus. Since, I have worked on reshaping the team into more of a UTH-friendly lineup and lost in the playoffs in 2014.
It was a nondescript rookie draft in terms of trades executed. Sitting at 1.09 in Round 1, I was looking to deal into the top-8 (love that spot this year) and dealt up for an inexpensive price.
The Deal
Gave: 1.09, 2.07, 4.04
Received: 1.08, 2.08, 4.08
I am flexible in the later second, so giving that up with an easy decision to get my target player at the end of a tier at 1.08, Breshad Perriman.
With two later seconds, I wait as root for a few rogue picks that are not of interest within the top-20. Jay Ajayi goes in that range, which helps my cause in addition to the pick where I held my breath – David Cobb going at 2.07 in front of me. The move back from 2.07 did not cost me a target player, and I nab auto-pick in that range, Matt Jones, on my board. The buzz has steadily built since Jones was a relative surprise on Day 2 and already the penciled in primary back to ho-hum starter Alfred Morris in Washington. Matt Jones rarely makes it out of the top-20 now and top-18 is the regular range as of typing this review.
