Hop on the Perriman Bandwagon

As Chad, Doug and Katie Flower discussed on this week’s Under the Helmet podcast, there’s starting to be a little more love for Breshad Perriman here at UTH.  As someone who ranked Perriman as my 5th overall rookie 2 weeks ago all I can say is, welcome aboard!  Here’s what I love about Perriman: elite athleticism (out scores Kevin White in Zach Whitman’s pSPARQ metric and Chad’s Projection Model), age-adjusted production  that meets expectations for a future top 12 fantasy WR, loads of available targets in his rookie year, and best of all… he’s cheap to acquire.  According to DLF’s ADP and the RotoViz ADP App, Perriman is inexplicably being drafted after Dorial Green-Beckham and non-transcendent RB talents.  Frankly, I don’t get it, and I recommend drafting or trading for Perriman at your next available opportunity.  Here’s some examples of people doing just that, starting with yours truly.

UTHers have definitely recognized a market inefficiency here.  A super-athlete 1st round WR with tons of opportunity on a good offense should not be going at these prices.  Jump in while you can–eventually the market will correct itself.

Well Played

A UTH Classic

In the last Making the Trade I included a trade demonstrating that UTH nation likes studs too.  Here’s a deal demonstrating why so many think we don’t:

I like this deal quite a bit for Matt, particularly because I happen to know (from earlier in this article) that Matt was able to draft Breshad Perriman at 1.07.  If Matt’s right and his 2016 1st ends up being top 3, this trade will look like highway robbery in a year’s time.

Don’t Handcuff Yourself

One dynasty strategy I’m not a fan of is handcuffing (I’m honestly not a huge fan in re-draft either).  In dynasty you’re drafting and acquiring players for the long haul, so you should be evaluating every player based on his own merits, not based on your current roster composition.  I understand the appeal of hedging your risk or locking up a backfield, but my general rule of thumb is that I only want handcuffs if they’re super cheap, or if I like the player in his own right.  Otherwise, you can easily get caught overpaying for a player who’s unlikely to ever see your starting lineup, and who’s also unlikely to have much trade value on his own. On the flip side, I love selling other owners their handcuffs or using a handcuff as a throw-in to lock down a trade.

No Argument Here

You know you got a good price on Phillip Dorsett when Chad likes the deal.  If you haven’t caught the podcast this week, Chad and Doug’s argument over Dorsett is worth the listen alone.  For the record I’m #TeamChad on this one, but I like this deal for Ryan simply because I think there will be a sell high window on Dorsett within the next 9 months.
