Managing a bunch of dynasty teams sounds like a dream come true in terms of scratching the competitive and team-building itch. However, managing them can be a challenge. Here are some helpful tips from Katie Flower (@FF_Skyler399) to optimize your dynasty ownership experience:

I now own 17 dynasty teams.  The first question I get when people hear this is: “how do you keep track of them all?” The way I feel is once I have done all my research on players, it would be a waste not to play in multiple leagues.  Here are a few tips if you own multiple leagues and want to be more efficient in managing them.

If all of your leagues are hosted on My Fantasy League (MFL) then you are in luck.  Make sure you are logged in to each league.  Open one of the leagues and at the top drop down menu “My Leagues” you can select “All My Leagues”:

This will show you a list format of all of your leagues hosted on MFL.  From here you can search for a player across all of your leagues at one time.  The resulting search will list which owner has the player and in which leagues he is an available free agent.  You can even add the player right from that search screen!

As you can see, Lance Dunbar is a free agent in Drummer Duck Dynasty league.  I know the scoring is non-ppr so he isn’t worth an add there.  But as you can see, using this feature is a very handy way of building watch lists and adding waiver wire pick ups each week.

There are other ways to take advantage of this feature.  If a player has a bad start to the season, search for the player and the list will show you which owners to target in trade.

MFL is handy on game day too.  If you have a player that is injured and you aren’t sure if he is going to start or not, use this search to find all of your leagues you have that player.  Then you can go in methodically and remove him from your starting lineup if he is a scratch, or add him to your lineup if he is going to play.  Never take a zero for having an injured player in your lineup again!

From either the “All my leagues” page or the search player page, there is a link to the live scoring for the week.  This helps you keep track of all your leagues at one time and not switching back and forth between open web pages.

If you need to make a lineup change for an afternoon or evening game, you can go directly to each league from the live scoring page.  I use a right click on the link and then “open in new tab” so I don’t have to hit the back button afterwards.

Not All Hosting Sites are Created Equal

Unfortunately I do not play all of my dynasty leagues on MFL.  I have three hosted on ESPN and one on Fantrax.  Additionally I have a handful of redraft leagues to keep track of on NFL.com and Yahoo.   In my opinion, the best way to manage all of my teams across these different host sites is using Football Guys (FBG).

This is a paid subscription.  My guess is if you have multiple teams across multiple host sites, you are pretty serious about the hobby.  FBG gives you the advantage of being able to enter your league scoring and link the profile to your host site.  This is especially great because they use IDP settings.

I link all of my MFL, ESPN, Yahoo, NFL.com and Fantrax teams and have them all in one spot.  There are many advantages, I will point out a few.

Footballguys.com (FBG) has up to date weekly/yearly projections that can help you quickly find a potential hole in your lineup.  You can not only see the projections for your team, but for your opponents too.  While projections on sites like ESPN, Yahoo etc have proven to be vastly unreliable, from my experience FBG’s are fairly good.

Here is a screen shot of my projected week 2 RB (in yellow) vs my opponents (in pink):

Free agent options will appear in blue, since the league is linked and synched it is a live snapshot of who is available and if they are projected higher than my player, I could go pick them up.

This is extremely helpful for kickers, team defense, and IDP.  Remember this is based on each league and the particular scoring and starting requirements – customized not just blanket projections.

By looking at each position and that of my opponent, I can get a better idea of if I need to swing for the fences or play it safe.  If I am consistently the underdog at each position, I know I am in trouble and will start my “high ceiling” player as opposed to one with a “high floor”.

If your scoring system awards points for punt and/or kick return yardage and TDs, Footballguys.com takes this into account as well.  Not many other sites will do this.

I’m sure there are other tools online to help manage your multiple leagues, this is in no way all-inclusive, merely my experiences that I wanted to share.  At least once a season I will perform a Google search to see what else may be helpful.  The bottom line is, to be a successful dynasty owner, you need to have your finger on the pulse of each team you own.
