The Running back position is a roller coaster ride during an NFL season. They need strong volume, goal line opportunities, targets, plus some positive game scripts to maximize their production. Oh, and stay healthy while an entire defense targets them each touch. Find value at the position as a dynasty owner and you feel like you hit the jackpot with consistent production at a discounted price. If you invest heavily and roll snake eyes with injury or poor play, the sour feeling sticks in your mouth for months.
I prefer the lower cost route at running back – benefiting from an injury, poor play, or the strong performance of my underrated current backup. With a strong wide receiver group already rostered, a dynasty owner can get by – or thrive – with this approach until finding that elusive young bell cow to carry the position. The focus here is on cost and paying a non-premium price tag to stash talented, but underutilized or undervalued options.
