Teams on Bye for Week 12: BYE WEEKS ARE OVER!
Values of the Week
Marcus Mariota – $10,900 (vs JAC)
When the match-up is good Mariota has delivered (24 vs TB, 18 vs CLE, 23 vs IND, and 36 vs NO). In another juicy match-up Mariota draws a Jacksonville defense who is among the league’s worst in touchdowns allowed, yards allowed, and completion percentage.
Gio Bernard – $8,800 (@ CLE)
Jeremy Hill left week 12’s game with an ankle injury and the Bengals can give Hill the week off in a match-up against the 31st ranked run defense in the NFL. Even if Hill does play Gio will be a good play.
David Johnson – $6,700 (@ STL)
Finally! If you are a UTH enthusiast or have followed Chad and Doug at all you know the love this group has for David Johnson. He has the ability to catch passes out of the backfield, get to the outside with good burst, and can play between the tackles. This is not an easy match-up, but getting the starting running back for a good offense is going to be a good play and Johnson should have plenty of opportunities.
CJ Anderson – $6,900 (@ SD)
Finally, we are starting to see the Kubiak system run the way it is supposed to be ran and CJ Anderson is the best fit for this system. With Denver now running the ball effectively and going against a run defense which is allowing 4.9 yards per carry CJ Anderson is my play of the week.
DeVante Parker – $6,400 (vs BAL)
Last week was a coming out party for Parker and the Dolphins would be wise to keep going back to their biggest target early and often. Parker will be best used as a GPP play.
Brandon LaFell – $9,500 (vs PHI)
The PHI pass defense is bad and getting worse with the loss of Nolan Carroll in week 12 and rookie Eric Rowe was inserted in his place. I am not saying LaFell is as talented as Calvin, but I do think that the Patriots offense can get him one on one with the rookie and exploit the match-up.
Travis Kelce – $8,700 (@ OAK)
This week Travis Kelce draws one of the leagues worst defenses against tight ends. Travis Kelce should be in everyone’s line-ups this week and if you are looking for a contrarian play you can pay up to Greg Olson (against NO for $12,000) or pay down for Julius Thomas (against TEN for $7,800).
Players To Avoid
Drew Brees – $12,900 (vs CAR)
Over the last three games the Panthers have allowed on average 197 yards per game and have given up 2 touchdowns and 5 interceptions to opposing quarterbacks. Even though the Saints are at home I don’t see things getting better for Brees against the Panthers.
Devonta Freeman – $15,000 (@ TB)
On average, over the last three weeks, the Bucs have averaged 40 yards per game to each teams leading rusher (Gore, Murray, and McFadden). With the Falcons circling the drain and desperate to find their footing I do not see this as a comeback game for Freeman.
Dez Bryant ($14,000) and Jason Witten ($8,700) – $22,700 (@ WAS)
Welcome back Matt Cassel. You will now lift the value of Darren McFadden and deflate every other skill position on your team. In 3 games with Matt Cassel under center this dynamic duo managed only 25 catches (4 catches each per game). I have nothing against Matt Cassel, but this team is going to struggle moving the ball outside of McFadden.
Stacks of the Week
Blake Bortles ($10,800) + Allen Robinson ($13,700) = $24,500 (@ TEN)
This pair has lit it up this season. Even if they aren’t the best at winning games they are extremely good at getting fantasy points. Robinson is still being priced outside the top 10 wide receivers and even on down weeks will get you 15 points.
Ryan Fitzpatrick ($10,200) + Brandon Marshall ($13,400) + Erik Decker ($12,000) = $35,600 (vs NYG)
Marshall finally had a game where you remembered what kind of beast he can be when you just get him the ball. Going against a Giants secondary who has allowed the most passing yards in the league spells big things for this amazing trio.
