QB

  • Cody Kessler CUT
  • Paxton Lynch CUT
  • Mason Rudolph wins QB2 in PIT
  • Taylor Heinecke CUT
  • Cardale Jones CUT
  • Brian Hoyer CUT (New)
  • Jeff Driskel to IR (New)
  • Deshone Kizer CUT (New)

No real surprises here. Josh Dobbs in PIT looks capped out in his progression/improvement and Rudolph could be the heir to Big Ben as his upside. Dobbs is cut worthy in 2QB leagues. Kyle Allen and Will Grier remain in CAR for the backup role. Josh McCown as the QB2 was expected and Nate Sudfeld is the developmental option (or possible QB2) with Kessler being squeezed off the roster in Philly.

Surprising cut with Jones, thought he played well and showed progress in preseason. Still stash him in 2QB deeper leagues until further notice.

Hoyer is gone from the Patriots with the good enough preseason from Jarrett Stidham. Hoyer should find QB2 work and offer an upgrade to another depth chart if he continues in the NFL. Keep him for the next 24-48 hours in 2QB leagues to see what transpires.

Driskel to IR means you can do the same in deeper 2QB leagues. However, Driskel has not shown enough to be a priority dynasty keeper into 2020. Ryan Finley is the promising QB2 in Cincinnati.

Tim Boyle the QB2 in Green Bay? Maybe, stay tuned with Kizer cut. That would be a good spot for Brian Hoyer.

RB

  • LeSean McCoy CUT
  • Alex Barnes CUT
  • Cameron Artis-Payne CUT
  • Elijah McGuire CUT
  • Jerick McKinnon likely to IR
  • Josh Adams CUT
  • Samaje Perine CUT
  • Jeremy McNichols CUT
  • Wendell Smallwood CUT (New)
  • Carlos Hyde TRADED to Texans
  • Mike Weber CUT (New)
  • Kenneth Dixon to IR
  • Jordan Ellis CUT (New)
  • Ryan Nall CUT (New)
  • Tra Carson CUT (New)
  • J.D. McKissic CUT (New)
  • Jeffrey Wilson CUT (New)
  • Damarea Crockett CUT (New)

McCoy is the surprise. This makes T.J. Yeldon much more likely to make the roster and Frank Gore the likely Week 1 starter with Devin Singletary much more likely to impact the depth chart soon and fantasy lineups in 2019. There is even a chance Singletary is the Week 1 starter, we will see.

Barnes’ best case is a decent practice squad assignment.

Artis-Payne is surprising but it was quizzical he was playing W4 of the preseason, now it makes sense. Jordan Scarlett is the penciled-in RB2 (for now) on the depth chart and an auto-pickup. Elijah Holyfield is a good bet to make the roster.

McGuire was an expected cut. He is a dynasty cut as well unless he lands in a decent RB3 spot where he could challenge for RB2 work (not likely).

Adams had some marginal flip potential midseason in 2018 but it’s been downhill since. Adams isn’t worth a dynasty roster spot.

Perine has been on the dynasty fringe for a while, finally cut by Washington.

McNichols had some preseason buzz to win the RB3 job in TEN, but he has bounced around plenty since entering the league.

Smallwood was done in Philly but good enough to be an RB3 type elsewhere. Stay tuned for deep league dynasty roster viability.

Hyde was running on fumes for his dynasty value, but new life as the assumed RB2 in Houston with primary GL back and ‘most carries’ upside in a committee with Duke Johnson. We will see as he plummeted down the Chiefs depth chart over the past month. Hyde is worth rostering into the season in most dynasty depths.

Weber was a practice-squad-at-best projection with his lack of flash in the preseason and running as RB4/5 in Dallas. He is a cut recommendation for now.

Dixon was a dynasty cut recommendation already but now you have flexibility to stash him on IR if desired.

A fringe NFL talent, but looked decent in preseason, Jordan Ellis cut by CIN.

Nall, if he does pan out, needed a change in team. Chicago cut him, so now we see where he lands.

Tra Carson outplayed and played higher in the rotation than Dexter Williams in the preseason for Green Bay, but Carson is the one cut over the mid-Day 3 pick. Consider Williams lucky, he is a fringe dynasty roster spot recommendation in sub-30 man rosters.

More than McKissic cut, this is a good sign for C.J. Prosise, who is a strong dynasty roster hold outside of maybe sub-25man roster formats.

Wilson cut in SF is a good news for now RB3 Raheem Mostert there, a Breida or Coleman injury away from being a strong pickup. Mostert is already a decent stash in 28-35man rosters.

Crockett is waived by Houston. He is likely a dynasty cut outside of a great landing in the coming days. Good news for Karan Higdon, the presumed RB3 behind Duke Johnson and Carlos Hyde, but consider Hyde a question mark overall.

WR

  • Braxton Berrios CUT
  • Laquon Treadwell CUT (hearing strong rumor)
  • Josh Doctson CUT
  • Cody Core CUT
  • J’Mon Moore CUT
  • Marcel Ateman CUT
  • Taywan Taylor TRADED to Browns
  • Jaron Brown CUT (New)
  • Demaryius Thomas CUT (New)
  • Kenny Stills TRADED to Texans

Berrios is a marginal dynasty stash and squeezed off NE depth chart.

Treadwell was a poor metric prospect and surprise RD1 NFL Draft pick. No interest on the dynasty front.

Doctson was a likely dynasty cut either way, but good on Washington for moving on from the roster albatross.

Core was mere NFL depth chart depth.

No impact with Moore being cut, shouldn’t have been on any UTH rosters.

Ateman had some minimal flip prospects last year at his ‘peak’ but with Brown and Williams added in Oakland he was headed for a marginal role at best.

Not reacting much to Taylor traded to CLE, but he is still on the dynasty radar for now.

Brown being cut is a little surprising with DK Metcalf’s injury and Gary Jennings’ yawn preseason.

Demaryius Thomas being a cut is a little surprising considering his W4 showing, but he is an eroding older option.

TE

  • Luke Willson CUT
  • Eric Saubert CUT
  • Dan Arnold CUT (New)
  • Jordan Franks CUT (New)
  • Ricky Seals-Jones CUT (New)

Willson was a 2TE only special so nothing really to see here.

Saubert was a low-level acquisition by NE. Safe to cut by 2TE dynasty owners outside of a surprise signing elsewhere. Good news to stash Ryan Izzo (made some preseason play by UTH Film Notes) in 2TE formats.

Arnold has flashed, but has been inconsistent in New Orleans. He is more receiver than all-around guy but good enough to be a TE2/3 on an NFL depth chart. Good news for Josh Hill and Alize Mack for now.

The TE3 in CIN, Franks showed well in 2018 and was a potential handcuff to Uzomah if Tyler Eifert was hurt in 2TE leagues, is out.

Stills has some life left and this is not good for Keke Coutee in the WR3/4 rotation. Laremy Tunsil is also in the trade as Houston is going all-in on a deep playoff run.

Seals-Jones is a surprise cut but Arizona got Charles Clay back healthy to close the preseason and Maxx Williams was an addition this offseason.
