In addition to prospect comparable prospects, one of my major gripes with NFL Draft coverage is draft grades. All the grades are close together, no one fails, giving a team a ‘C’ is like giving a restaurant or Uber driver 4 stars (oh my, how could you!), and it does not mimic a classroom of students where ALL the grades exist within a sample size of 25+. Here is my attempt to quantify the grading process where teams score based on taking a premium position, getting overtly good or bad value versus consensus, and the stakes wane from Day 1 to Day 2 to Day 3. So, yes, there is a potential advantage to having more picks and higher round picks, but not if they are largely wasted on sub-optimal positions or with players who were projected to be had later.
