Continuing with the season recaps, here are other installments in the series:

SiriusXM IDP League

Dirty Dozen League

Maximum Security League

Team UTH Dynasty League

Delta 11 Dynasty League

Delta 12 Dynasty League

Delta 15 Dynasty League

Delta 25  Dynasty League

I took over this orphan team in the spring of 2014, mostly because it had a bevy of rookie picks with which to build a dominant team by 2015.

  • 10 teams, 0.5 RB PPR, 1.0 WR-TE
  • 28-man rosters
  • Start 2-2-3-1 with 2 RB-WR-TE flex, plus 2 kickers, 2 DSTs

Noteworthy Moves

I made about 15 trades prior to the July rookie draft in 2014. Here are a few of those deals:

Gave: Mike Wallace, James Jones

Received: 1.07, 2015 1st

The 1.07 ended up as Eric Ebron and the future 1st the 1.08 in the coming year. I was more than happy in that haul for Wallace.

Gave: Jay Cutler

Received: Larry Fitzgerald, 2.07, 2015 2nd

Remember this is a 2-QB league and when I took over the team Cutler could have been my most valuable piece. Fitzgerald was a nice bonus (flipped him a day later). The 2.07 (17 overall with 10 teams) ended up Carlos Hyde and the future pick 2.08.

Gave: Larry Fitzgerald, Pierre Garcon, Dennis Pitta

Received: Tyler Eifert, Robert Woods, 3 1sts in 2015

The other team was selling out for the current year and I was seeking first round picks any way I could get them. The added bonus was the picks turned into 1.01, 1.04, and 1.07 respectively.

Rookie Draft Haul

  • 1.04 Bishop Sankey
  • 1.06 Brandin Cooks
  • 1.07 Eric Ebron
  • 1.08 Odell Beckham
  • 1.09 Blake Bortles
  • 2.07 Carlos Hyde
  • 2.08 Allen Robinson
  • 2.09 Austin Seferian-Jenkins
  • 3.06 Jeremy Hill
  • 3.07 Cody Latimer
  • 4.06 Jerick McKinnon
  • 4.07 Derek Carr
  • 4.09 Charles Sims

I actually traded a few picks away and half my roster was 2014 rookies in-season with this haul. Derek Carr (hat tip to Doug Veatch for talking me into the selection) was ridiculous value in this format. I chose Bortles over Teddy Bridgewater, which I would reverse with a season of tape from each. Hyde, Robinson, and Hill falling to those points was outstanding value even in a 10-teamer and being QB-heavy.

7.28.2014 Traded Doug Baldwin, 2015 2nd, 3015 3rd for 2016 1st, 2016 4th

Baldwin had the buzz at the time and I was looking to get future firsts any way possible. The add-on picks ended up 2.08 and 3.01 this year, so fair value to get the random 2016 1st, which was a playoff team this season.

9.10.2014 Added Brian Quick

With the added kickers, defenses, and quarterbacks that are rostered (and started) in this league, there is a little more talent on the waiver wire than usual. I was able to collect Quick after Week 1.

10.15.2014 Added Jace Amaro

Amaro was dropped just a few months after being a mid-round rookie pick. I spent a decent chunk of my waiver budget to add Amaro to his 2014 rookie tight end pals Eric Ebron and Austin Seferian-Jenkins on my roster.

11.5.2014 Traded Jeremy Hill, 2015 3rd for Donte Moncrief, 2015 2nd

Got a bump of a few rookie pick spots, but the deal was mainly Hill for Moncrief. Hill went on a late-season run, but I prefer Moncrief more long-term.

12.11.2014 Added Duron Carter

Worth a flyer into the offseason as my final rostered wide receiver.

The Season

Mired in the bottom tier of the league throughout the season (as expected) in my opening season as the owner of this orphan team. In addition to my own results, I was tracking the many teams of which I had their 2015 1st round rookie pick. I had five 1sts and three, including my own, ended up in the top-4. This season went as planned as a productive struggle.

Season-Ending Roster

QB

Ryan Tannehill, Colin Kaepernick, Derek Carr, Blake Bortles, Logan Thomas

RB

Carlos Hyde, Bishop Sankey, Jerick McKinnon, Charles Sims, Robert Turbin, James White

WR

Odell Beckham, A.J. Green, Golden Tate, Brandin Cooks, Allen Robinson, Brian Quick, Michael Floyd, Donte Moncrief, Justin Hunter, Cody Latimer, Kenny Britt, Terrance Williams, Duron Carter

TE

Eric Ebron, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Jace Amaro

Rookie Picks

1.01, 1.02, 1.04, 1.07, 1.08, 2.01, 2.02, 2.04, 2.10

Outlook

With my wide receivers and quarterbacks coming along nicely, the strong running back class in 2015 looks to be a welcome sign for my first round picks. With a productive struggle season out of the way, the playoffs will be a regular year-end scenario for this team starting next season.
