Trading Post

The worst dynasty trades of 2015 was an idea mentioned on the UTH chat, which constantly idles with ideas, trades, dynasty thoughts, and more between UTH contributors 24/7. We really should offer backstage passes to the chat on a weekly basis in the future.

If folks wanted to share their worst dynasty trade story of 2015, I was game to organize them into a post here at UTHDynasty. A trade is worth a thousand words, of course brevity is important as well. On to the trades!

Ever wish you didn’t make a trade and want a do-over?  I feel this way about a trade I made this summer.  In this particular league we have 6-7 owners who read and follow UTH strategies.  I decided to offer an over-pay because I was a strong team and the other guy was rebuilding.

  • Gave Zach Zenner, 2016 2nd
  • Received  Cameron Artis-Payne

The Round 2 pick should be late and the trade calculator shows it as a 23.2% loss for me, I still wish I could take it back!  At the time of the trade I didn’t give either player long enough to show one way or another what they would do in the NFL.  Even strong dynasty owners have impatient moments.

Gave C.J. Anderson
Received DeAndre Smelter, Josh Hill, HaHa Clinton-Dix, 2016 Round 3

All I can do is hang my head at this deal now.  I bought into the Josh Hill hype train after the draft, I believed C.J. Anderson was a one-hit wonder, and I completely looked away from the value Anderson would have in a Gary Kubiak system, good receivers taking pressure off of him, and a quarterback that believes in checking to the run.

Gave Justin Forsett
Received Rookie 2.08

In April, I shopped Forsett for nearly anything of value before the NFL Draft. I was confident Baltimore would draft more competition than Javorius Allen like they did. I figured 2.08 would have more Package Up appeal come rookie draft time as I am annually squeezed for roster spots in the summer months with 20 positional players.

The 2.08 did not get me very far as I added Torrey Smith, Marquess Wilson, Charles Johnson, and 2.06 to get up to 1.05 for T.J. Yeldon. Those rookie picks would have been Matt Jones and Chris Conley. Again, the struggles of a short roster league and a strong team (first-world problems, right?). It was an overall value drain, starting with Justin Forsett’s trade pre-NFL Draft which did not pay off.
