We Like Studs Too!
One of the more common criticisms of the UTH philosophy is that it’s all about chasing picks and young unproven players–all the while trading away players who actually produce. But while the UTH philosophy may prioritize youth more than most, we like studs too! Need proof? Check out this trade:

Even as a UTHer I’m going to side with the “grizzled vet” on this one. And I think this trade also shows that Rookie Fever is alive and well.
Post draft I think most would agree that this draft class feels less exciting, but make sure to shop your picks when you’re on the clock. I’ve seen some nutty deals going down (much more lopsided than this one), and you never know which owner might lose perspective and overpay to get his guy.
Tier Break
Before the NFL draft, dynasty consensus had a three-man top rookie tier of Amari Cooper, Todd Gurley, and Kevin White. Post draft, things have changed. Now consensus says that the top tier is just Cooper and Gurley. As someone who owns the 1.03 and wasn’t that into White at first, I find this disappointing. Hopefully I can pull of some thing like Alan did here:

Otherwise I think the move is to trade back to the mid round. I see this class as pretty flat after the top 2 and it’s a quick way to scoop up an extra pick or young asset.
I Wish I Knew How to Quit You
I keep recommending Donte Moncrief as a buy and his stock keeps going down. No matter. If I keep buying, I’ll have to be right sometime. Here’s another buy low on Moncrief. Needless to say, I like it.
2.02 18 overall for Donte Moncrief #UTHtrades

Wanted to give fellow UTH writer Nate Liss a shout out for cracking me up with this tweet. But I also like this trade. Here’s the thing with Cordarrelle Patterson. He’s probably the best kick returner in the league and he’s 24. He’s going to be on someone’s roster for years to come, and he’s going to keep getting chances on offense simply because of how electric he is with the ball in his hands. We know the upside is there, and his special teams ability will keep him from going the way of Jon Baldwin and Stephen Hill.
The perfect time to trade for Patterson may be when you’re on the clock in the late 2nd or early 3rd round. I bet you can get him for the pick straight up.
