No Need to Give into Team Needs

Now what analysis could I possibly provide here, other than to say slam dunk and move on. None: Slam Dunk! Moving on…
Just kidding. The analysis comes from the context of this trade.
@pkerrane @AnOutragedJew his idea, actually. He was strong at WR but had no decent RBs, so who was I to argue?

@pkerrane @AnOutragedJew and this is a 16-team league full of sharp, active owners. He’s not dumb, just had a brain fart and I was downwind

Here’s what this trade comes down to: Team needs can kill. As dynasty owners we should be factoring that into the way we approach making offers (ie. scouting other owner’s team needs and crafting offers accordingly). But it’s also something to keep in mind when evaluating your own roster–you don’t want to be selling off core pieces to address team needs, or letting team needs dictate your player targets. Doug and Chad have a nice section on sticking to best player available in the latest UTH pod, and oh yeah, there’s an entire premium podcast on the subject. Check it out.
A Lil’ Xtra
@ChadParsonsNFL @Harahduh2 MLee 4 ICrowell Should I try to get a lil’ bit more w/ Crowell or leave well enough alone? #UTHDynasty — Jeremy Schulz (@cannonsofloose) April 9, 2015
@Harahduh2 @ChadParsonsNFL Got a #lil‘xtra w/chance 2 flip it 4 2016 1st come draft day. MLee/2.02 4 ICrowell/2.01 #UTHTrades #UTHDetergent — Jeremy Schulz (@cannonsofloose) April 9, 2015
This one cracks me up because Jeremy had no business asking for a lil’ bit more but he got it anyway! As always, it never hurts to ask for improved draft position or extra pieces you can package up later. Speaking of…
Packaging Up + Cascading Trades
@DynastyTrades Completed trade (12 team, 1/2 PPR) Gave: Ingram, 2.12, 3.12 and 2016 1st (late) Got: Lacy #UTHtrades #dynastytrades — Derek Blaguski (@derekblaguski) April 14, 2015
@DynastyTrades @ChadParsonsNFL @Harahduh2 Gave: Lacy. Got: 1.03 (Gurley) and Bridgewater #UTHtrades #dynastytrades — Derek Blaguski (@derekblaguski) April 15, 2015
If Derek is right and he gets Todd Gurley + Teddy Bridgewater for Mark Ingram 2.12, 3.12 and a 2016 1st that’s highway robbery. If it ends up being Kevin White, who I’m not as high on as most, then it’s just regular robbery.
Rookie Hypothermia
For the first two weeks I posted a Rookie Fever Trade of Week but this week I thought I’d switch it up and highlight someone who must have Rookie Hypothermia:
@ChadParsonsNFL @Harahduh2 @pkerrane traded Hyde + lee for the 1.1, how’d I do? #UTHDynasty #UTHtrades — Zak Walker (@ZWalker06) April 10, 2015
Zak Walker, if you’re reading, ya did good. Unless Marqise Lee has been playing an elaborate prank on the football community over the last two years,((Stop it Marqise, you’re only hurting yourself.)) he’s not the #packageup piece I’d be looking for to move from the 1.01 to Carlos Hyde. Kudos for getting this deal done.
It’s worth checking if the top picks in your league are available at a relative discount. I doubt it, but they’ll only get pricier once the top guys have tangible landing spots, so why not throw an offer out now?
