Trading Post

This dynasty trade was made on an orphan that I adopted during the 2016 offseason. The league is a 12-team, best ball, TripleFlex, tight end premium league with a six round annual devy draft. Starting lineups include 1-2-3-2-2SFlex.

The Approach

After DeVante Parker missed Week 1, a buy-low window opened and I began negotiations to buy the young receiver.  Surprisingly this deal was not completed until after Parker’s Week 2 breakout 8 reception 106-yard performance against the Patriots.  The deal was centered on sending two Devy 1sts for Parker.

The Trade

Gave Kenneth Dixon, 2 2017 Devy 1sts

Received DeVante Parker, 2017 Devy 5th, 2017 Devy 6th

Kenneth Dixon is an expensive addition to the deal, but I was able to secure two additional Devy picks in return.  With the Devy draft being separate from the rookie draft, the downgrade from the 1st round to the 5th and 6th rounds is smaller than it appears.  While the 1st round will land a player with name value, it is possible to hit a stud with any pick in a Devy draft.  After a flurry of deals this offseason, I own the end of the 2017 Devy draft.

Takeaways

DeVante Parker is a 23-year old 6’ 3” receiver with 1st round draft pedigree who has flashed in the NFL. These are the core players you build a dynasty team around. This is the time of year a savvy owner can extract value from redraft-minded owners. Trust the work you put in during the offseason.
