This dynasty trade was made shortly after the season ended in a 10-team non-PPR league that starts 1-2-3-1-2Flex. I took this team over as an orphan before the 2015 season and am now ready to compete in 2017.
The Approach
While my wide receiver corps struggled in 2016, they are poised for a rebound in 2017. I had explored making a move for UTH favorites like DeVante Parker or Sammy Watkins but was unable to find traction on a deal. This offer surprisingly hit my inbox and was an instant accept.
The Trade
Gave 2.04, 2018 1st
Received A.J. Green
A.J. Green is not a player I am actively buying as he is nearing the end of his prime, but at this cost, I had to accept. Adding a player like Green will solidify the top of my wide receiver group. Being a non-PPR league gives me the ability to ‘hide’ my lack of wide receiver depth with a strong core of running backs and tight ends. My team finished a disappointing 7th in the league in 2016 and I think this offer was made projecting me to perform similarly in 2017. If my team develops as expected and the 2018 1st is late, this trade becomes heavily slanted in my favor.

Takeaways
This trade is a great example of exploring all possible trade options. I do not advocate paying up for A.J. Green or Dez Bryant. However, it is worth price checking all players in the offseason. With the construction of this offer, I would not be surprised if this owner sent offers to 3-4 teams for equivalent value deals. If I had not been at my computer when this offer came in, and a different owner had accepted before I did, I would have missed this opportunity to add value to my team. There are opportunities in every league to gain value. You will never find them if you do not send out offers or engage in trade talks.
