The UTH Subscriber Contest field is set with 96 owners, full rosters, a best ball, no waiver moves or trades, sprint to the finish.

Quick Format Recap

  • Build team through salary cap construct
  • 6pt all TDs
  • Superflex, TE Premium, 0.2 PPC
  • Deep starting lineups

This format is all about big games and having depth to insulate from injuries, bye weeks, and poor games.

After collecting all the rosters and ownership data, here are the ‘Flag’ players where only a single team (of 96) owns them at their respective salary. Will the call be bold and impactful, or forgettable?

Quarterbacks

  • Cam Newton
  • Blake Bortles
  • Paxton Lynch
  • Trevor Siemian
  • Josh McCown
  • Luke McCown
  • Ryan Mallett
  • Kellen Clemens

Newton was very cost-prohibitive considering the depth of most built rosters. Bortles was also priced on the upper band of his likely outcomes. With Siemian’s solid performance in Week 1, he could be a value if he holds the job for a decent chunk of the season at a minimal price. Lynch was also dirt cheap (I almost rostered him myself), but with Carson Wentz a similar price and starting Week 1, I opted for more projectable games from Wentz as my depth quarterback. The bottom four names were mainly handcuffs for the team starters.

Running Backs

  • LeVeon Bell
  • Eddie Lacy
  • Matt Jones
  • Dion Lewis
  • Dwayne Washington
  • James Starks
  • Robert Turbin
  • Kenjon Barner
  • Charcandrick West
  • Zach Zenner
  • Tim Hightower
  • Mike Davis
  • Brandon Bolden
  • Reggie Bush

Bell will miss games to open the season (and priced at RB4), making him a high-variance bet when he gets back to produce. Since there is no premium on the playoffs (like head-to-head leagues) with this total points format, Bell needs 10+ strong games.

Starks, Turbin, Barner, and Hightower are intriguing backups who could see starts along the way or be close to useless without an injury in front of them.

Wide Receivers

  • Dez Bryant
  • Jordy Nelson
  • Kelvin Benjamin
  • Anquan Boldin
  • Terrance Williams
  • Leonte Carroo
  • Jaelen Strong
  • Victor Cruz
  • Jeff Janis
  • Braxton Miller
  • Jared Abbrederis

Bryant was WR7 in price and Nelson was WR14. Benjamin even logged a nice Week 1 despite the stingy matchup and news of a snap count from WR26 price. I considered Boldin in an early version of my roster, but sided with higher upside options in the similar WR60+ prices.

Tight Ends

  • Larry Donnell
  • Jordan Cameron
  • Richard Rodgers
  • Kyle Rudolph
  • Jacob Tamme
  • Tyler Higbee
  • Niles Paul
  • Andrew Quarless

Donnell and Tamme are the most likely to log multiple games of usage in this best ball format. Tamme at TE25+ is appealing and a consideration for my lineup, but in that zone, Vance McDonald, Lance Kendricks, Crockett Gillmore, and Jesse James are all viable values.
