Values of the Week
Andy Dalton – $12,200 (@ PITT)
Last week the Steelers allowed Alex Smith, with no Jeremy Maclin and Jamal Charles, to score 23 points against them. This week the Steelers will face a rested Bengals offense who would love to extend their lead in the division.
Chris Ivory – $11,800 (@ OAK)
Todd Gurley is not priced as low this week so we need to look elsewhere for our value. Ivory is a great value as the Jets are looking for revenge off of their loss to the Patriots. The Raiders losing Justin Tuck for the season only helps Ivory’s case.
Orleans Darkwa – $7,000 (vs. NO)
Darkwa can also be named the tournament play of the week. On eight carries Darkwa was able to rush for 48 yards and a touchdown. The coaching staff is already saying Orleans has earned more playing time. If he get’s his chance he could put up solid numbers against the Saints.
Davante Adams – $7,800 (vs. DEN)
Healthy for the first time all regular season, Adams has a chance to exploit the Broncos defense. Aqib Talib and Chris Harris will start their days on James Jones and Randall Cobb leaving Bradley Roby trying to keep up with Adams.
Tyler Lockett – $6,000 (@ DAL)
“Never underthrow me” is all I need to hear from Tyler Lockett to let me know he is ready to go. Lockett is the only Seahawks wide receiver getting constant separation in his routes and he is building chemistry with Russell Wilson.
Heath Miller – $6,600 (vs. CIN)
The first two weeks of the season Miller averaged 13.5 points per game. Coming back from injury, and having lost his starting left tackle and center, Big Ben will rely on his short passing game to set up the deep ball to Brown and Bryant.
New York Jets – $5,700 (@ OAK)
The Jets are going to be firing on all cylinders coming from a tough loss to the Patriots and I would hate to be the team in their way. The Jets have the secondary to keep up with Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree and the studs up front to breakdown their shaky offensive line. This will be a long day for Derek Carr.
Players To Avoid
Ben Roethlisberger – $13,600 (vs. CIN)
First week back from an injury, division rival with a talented interior pass rush, and losing two major pieces of your starting offensive line. Put all those things together and you have my biggest avoid of the week.
Latavius Murray – $12,000 (vs. DEN)
The Raiders were able to put together 37 points. Murray only managed to count for 85 yards and a touchdown. Going against one of the leagues best defenses the running game will be taken out of this match-up early.
TY Hilton – $14,000 (vs. CAR)
JOSH NORMAN ALERT! I expect Josh Norman and T.Y. Hilton to get to know each other this week-end and I don’t see Norman blowing two coverage assignments like the Saints.
Jason Witten – $10,900 (vs. SEA)
The Seahawks will be harassing Matt Cassel all day and he will be looking for his short to intermediate range targets to get things going. The only problem is a guy name Kam Chancelor. Kam will undoubtedly be given the task to stick with Witten and to shut down the 33-year-old.
Stacks of the Week
Philip Rivers ($13,500) + Keenan Allen ($14,900) + Ladarius Green ($8,300) = $36,700 (@ BAL)
Reports are coming out late saying Antonio Gates may miss “multiple weeks.” If Gates misses then we could have a cheap triple stack against the Ravens secondary who is starting players they sign off the street.
Brian Hoyer ($10,800) + DeAndre Hopkins ($17,900) = $28,700 (vs. TEN)
Brian Hoyer, up until last week, has been able to feed Hopkins with little problem. This week the dynamic duo get’s to go against an offense who lost it’s starting quarterback and will be giving the Texans quality field position all game. Losing Foster will only give Hopkins the opportunity for more targets, if that’s possible.
Andy Dalton ($12,200) + Tyler Eifert ($11,300) = $23,500 (@ PIT)
Yes this is a little bit more of an expensive stack, but I want as much exposure to Andy Dalton as I can now. The Steelers are allowing the third most fantasy points against tight ends this season.
