There are few things in this world I love more than dynasty fantasy football. It is one of the only things in my life which challenges me mentally on a daily basis and it does so in a variety of ways. As an analyst of the game, I tend to be very blunt and straightforward about what I think and how I play the game. My main goal for being an analyst though isn’t to dictate what people should or should not do, but rather to guide them through whatever problem or question they may have along the way. What I think a lot of us analysts forget on a daily basis is – it is you, the majority voice, which dictates player value to not only the dynasty community, but the entire fantasy football community in general.

ADP is an Election

When I think about ADP, it can be described very simply as an election. Every time you make a draft pick, you are basically casting your vote for what you think said player is worth. It infuriates analysts that Eric Ebron is the elected overall TE7 in all of dynasty fantasy football. However, it is the guys and gals out there on the forefront dictating value. People act as if one analyst or website can control ADP or decisions you make during your startup drafts. It is simply not the case. To think otherwise is ignorant. We are at the mercy of all of you asking or seeking advice. There only has to be one person in every league who values Ebron as the TE7 to make the idea come to life and guess what? ADP says there is at least one person in every league who feels that way. The votes don’t lie.

Every Vote Counts

When the presidential election rolls around a large majority of the population votes because they believe every vote counts, which is true. However, in dynasty fantasy football, your vote counts even more because we are dealing with a much smaller scale voting system. The entire country does not participate in fantasy football (even though it would be a much better country if we did). A few rogue picks can make a bigger impact than people imagine.

Another thing to keep in mind as well is – even mock startup drafts count towards ADP, unless I am mistaken. Which is really scary because to a degree, ADP can be inflated or deflated by simply getting some practice until the real thing comes around. Meaning, people can try out a bunch of different strategies without doing any long-term damage to an actual team, but ADP is affected.

In conclusion, it is YOU, the people who have the power and exercising that power is as simple as clicking the “make draft pick” button.
