There are 128 Division 1 schools in NCAA college football. Roughly 2500 players are signed by these schools annually. The top 300 players are ranked by recruiting agencies like Rivals, Scout, 247, and ESPN. Only about 30 players will receive a 5-star rating, a little more than 1% of those 2500 players.
