This is a dynasty rebuild trade I made in a 12-team PPR league. There are roster limits of 25 players and starting requirements of 1-1-3-1, 2 Flex, Kicker, and Defense.
The Approach
Less than three months ago I had great visions for my prospects. Russell Wilson, Lamar Miller, Allen Robinson, and Devante Parker projected as franchise cornerstones. I had long term players I liked to also produce depth in the short term in Josh Doctson and Kevin White. At the time, I added Randall Cobb, Theo Riddick, and Greg Olsen in an effort to contend. With a variety of unproductivity and injuries, my roster is second to last in the league in points scored and sits at 3-4 on the outside of the playoffs looking in.
After some hard thought about my roster, I swallowed my pride and came to the conclusion the roster was not a contender this season. If I managed to sneak into the playoffs, an early exit looked inevitable. Instead of a full rebuild, I settled on an incremental approach. I still like my core, but 2017 or 2018 may be more realistic production window than 2016.

Gave Greg Olsen
Receive 2017 1st
With Greg Olsen in his decline phase at 31 years old, he represented a good selling opportunity. I identified a competitive owner I have done business with before as a trade target. This owner was platooning Charles Clay and Zach Ertz at tight end and was in dire need of an upgrade at the position. Late in the evening, I made two different offers, one Olsen for Stefon Diggs and another Olsen for a 2017 1st. The next morning, he accepted Greg Olsen for a 2017 1st.
The 2017 1st looks to be in the late, and could possibly be 1.12. With the rare exception, if I can get a first round pick for a tight end, I generally view it as good value. This is particularly attractive in a projected deep 2017 rookie class where my roster is a rebuild. I made sure to thank my fellow owner for wishing him luck in the rest of the season and he responded with a thank you for my offers. Always nice to come away from a deal feeling satisfied with the other owner with the prospects of future dealing.

Conclusion
With three picks in each of the first two rounds of the 2017 rookie class, I like my chances to add several productive running backs to my roster. As Chad and I have been reviewing in the player spotlights, the 2017 rookie class has depth and variety at the running back position. With that in mind, I am looking for another rebuild trade of some of my running back depth to a contender in the coming weeks to strengthen my receiving corp. With some additional depth at receiver, a return to 2016 form by Allen Robinson and Russell Wilson and progression from my younger receivers, the next 24 months looks bright.
