During the on-going UTH Chat, I saw an opportunity for an official dynasty debate when Tim Torch and Jordan Spires mutually pointed the finger at each other with ‘I Disagree!’
As the official bear-poker of the room, I invited them lock horns to document the discussion here on the site. Here is the discussion in full:

If Martavis is so good, why did he barely play for 1/2 the season? Sure the rookie learning curve and all that. But he virtually only ran go routes once he got on the field. Nobody has to be taught how to do that. Not only that, 1/2 the time he was facing the #2 or even #3 corners because of unique formations and an emphasis on covering Antonio Brown and stacking the box to stop Leveon Bell. He has never been a playmaker in the sense that fantasy owners want him to be. His college dominator rating at playerprofiler.com is 18.5%…16th percentile. He doesn’t even have a Breakout Age….because he still hasn’t broken out!
Sure he has great measurable, 6’4″, 211, 4.42 speed and all the stuff everyone knows about. His athleticism is great; his efficiency last year was great. But the guy was on the field for 1/2 the year last year and didn’t even play all the snaps once he started playing. Of course he’s going to be efficient if the only times he plays are when the Steelers want him on the field and scheme up specific plays for him to “win” on

Learning curve is a massive part of it. You are talking about a play books that Haley and Ben have been working on for a couple of years now and Wheaton got the “vet nod ” earlier in the season.

Don’t forget his June ADP of WR27 as the 48th overall player. Ahead of players like Dorial Green-Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Mark Ingram, BRESHAD PERRIMAN, Michael Floyd, Latavius Murray, Donte Moncreif to name a few
I can almost always find someone I like better at the end of round 4 ahead of Martavis.

How are you going to get college production from the QB he was dealing with and Sammy Watkins in front of you?
His QB is out of the league now.
Tim • 3:53 PM
If he is such a great player, shouldn’t his overt athleticism/talent get him production both in college and the NFL?
If my recall is correct he had 1 touchdown of less than 15 yards or something like that
Jordan • 3:54 PM
He is getting production in the NFL and he pushed a bet off the field and as I said before he was dealing with 2 of the most gifted WRs to come out for a while
Before he dealt with Sammy he also had Hopkins in his way
Tim • 3:55 PM
Right so Nuk leaves and Sammy should be getting all the double teams and Martavis should be just eating it up. Instead he’s nowhere to be found and Sammy dominates
Jordan • 3:56 PM
You can’t feed 2 WRs with the QB that Clemson had
Tim • 3:57 PM
If you’re drafting Martavis hoping for 10-12 long touchdowns a year then alright, at least you know what his skillset is going to HOPEFULLY get you. But if you’re thinking he’s going to emerge into 2nd round startup value because of his overall play, I don’t see it
Boyd was not a bad college QB. Got eaten alive once NFL process started
Jordan • 3:58 PM
That offense was setup for bubble screens because that guy couldn’t throw 10 feet in front of himself
He was a good college QB because he only threw bubble screens at the ground
Tim • 3:59 PM
So you’re acknowledging that Martavis doesn’t have the skillset to get bubble screens thrown to him and then make plays right?
Jordan • 3:59 PM
No, I’m acknowledging that the QB he had was told to read Watkins or run
Tim • 3:59 PM
I don’t know about that one but okay
Jordan • 3:59 PM
Martavis Bryant’s best comparable player on playerprofiler.com. Justin Hunter – the epitome of a freak athlete who doesn’t know how to play football. If Steelers ask Bryant to do anything except run fast and far I fear he will struggle mightily just like Hunter does.

And know that teams know what he can do, they will just shade an over the top Safety to his side and then have their number 1 and an underneath LB or their other safety play over the top of Antonio Brown

Don’t forget his NFL Draft position. How many times do 32 nfl teams pass on a player until pick 118 and that player burns the NFL? Doesn’t happen very often.
So they love Martavis and he’s a stud right? 2014 pick 4.18. 4.42 40, 115.1 height adjust speed score, 128.3 burst score, 11.33 agility score, 10.27 catch radius and 106.8 overall athleticism.
Then less than 365 days later (2015 draft was earlier than 2014 draft was) they select Sammie Coates at 3.23 who is the same size as Martavis except 3 inches shorter. 4.43 40 yard dash, 110.1 height adjust speed score, 135.2 burst score, 11.04 agility score, 10.34 catch radius, 108.0 overall athleticism.
Jordan • 4:09 PM
They drafted the same player…..why would they do that? Obviously they don’t feel 100% comfortable rolling out Martavis+Antonio for 90+% of the snaps in a game
Pay a 4th round startup pick for Martavis or late 11th/early 12th rounder on Coates. I know which I would choose
