I recently took Jeff Janis in the 170s of a dynasty startup draft. He is a bit of a lost name after the Packers resigned Randall Cobb and drafted Ty Montgomery in the top-100 in the NFL Draft. Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams are also on the Green Bay depth chart. In short, they are loaded at wide receiver. They also know what they are doing in terms of scouting the position (let’s refer to them as the anti-Patriots in that regard) and Charles Johnson is a recent example of finding late-draft metric gold (even if for another NFL franchise) at wide receiver.
When startup or rookie drafts get late – especially with deep rosters – I turn a blind eye to depth charts and the uphill climb any of these long shots have towards legit fantasy relevance. The hit rate in this range is very low and being aggressive with high-upside metric prospects is paramount. Enter Jeff Janis.
