T.Y. Hilton is young and coming off a strong second season. He is paired with Andrew Luck, one of the strongest young quarterbacks in the game.

Four trades in the books for this 10-team, start-2QB league project of a roster up until this point. Even though only four players have left this team via trades thus far, all the players with value have been farmed out in proposals probably a dozen times. It takes the right owner, the right deal, and timing.
Pre-Trade Dynasty Roster:
QB – Jay Cutler, Carson Palmer
RB – Stevan Ridley
WR – Michael Floyd, Pierre Garcon, Cecil Shorts, T.Y. Hilton
TE – Dennis Pitta, Zach Ertz
Rookie Picks: 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.07, 1.08, 1.09, 2.06, 3.06. Added two extra 2015 1sts and a 2015 2nd to my own future selections.
The deal this time is involving T.Y. Hilton, a player I have advocated to sell high on for quite some time on the UTH podcast. In my head I had ‘two first round picks’ in my head as a return, probably due to Doug mentioning it for half the regular season, upon taking over the team. After trying to acquire one of the few 2014 1sts I did not already own and a future first from essentially every team in the league, that was not going to happen. Now, I had to ask myself how motivated of a seller am I?
Why trade T.Y. Hilton now?
Well, I am not interested in holding T.Y. Hilton into the regular season. Dwayne Allen coming back, they signed Hakeem Nicks, Reggie Wayne is projected to have at least some role, and the wild card is Da’Rick Rogers. I do not like T.Y. Hilton to maintain the target glut he collected with Allen, Wayne, Nicks, and Rogers not in the picture at his peak in 2013. Hilton is a better NFL weapon and functional field-stretcher than dynasty asset.
After that long-winded build-up, yes, I am a motivated seller. After some back-and-forth with a fellow owner or two, a deal was struck:
I gave T.Y. Hilton and 2.06 (16 overall) for the 1.06 and a 2015 3rd.
That looks like a big compromise from the ideal ‘two firsts’ idea at the outset. That is true. In my analysis of T.Y. Hilton above and this draft class overall, I am positive I will get a player (likely a receiver) at 1.06 that I like more than two ‘Hiltons’ at this juncture. If 2014 turns out like I think for Hilton, this deal will not be possible in-season or 12 months from now. Giving up the 2.06 was not ideal, but it got the deal done. As alternatives, I did not want to give up my 2015 2nd as that may end up as 11th overall.
Post-Trade Dynasty Roster:
QB – Jay Cutler, Carson Palmer
RB – Stevan Ridley
WR – Michael Floyd, Pierre Garcon, Cecil Shorts
TE – Dennis Pitta, Zach Ertz
Rookie Picks: 1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.06, 1.07, 1.08, 1.09, 3.06. Added two extra 2015 1sts, a 2015 2nd, and a 2015 3rd to my own future selections.
I declared that I would be going after every single first round pick in this year’s draft in this rebuild. Now, the count stands at eight of the first nine selections. Will I get 1.05 and 1.10? Stay tuned.
